Card 26: Ask an older relative to teach you a game or a song they remember from their childhood.
Revolutionize It! teach them one of yours.
The older relative…that would be me, the mom! Stretching my mind back to the old school yard and games I played as a little girl, Red Rover, Red Rover, was a favorite. Since we didn’t have enough people to create teams and actually play Red Rover, I found on-line instructions explaining how it is played. They enjoyed learning it and hopefully we can play it when there are a lot of kids around.
We revolutionized it by having the kids teach me how to use an Xbox controller to play a game. Surprise, video games are not my favorite. I am certainly in awe of how much they can manipulate, think quickly and use their hand-eye coordination beyond belief. I certainly didn’t catch on very quickly and didn’t win. Teaching an old dog new tricks isn’t easy. You can imagine the conversation on my end, “what button, how do I do that, where’s that, why so many buttons…”

It’s got a lot going on!
Bottom line, turning mom into a gamer, if just for an afternoon, is time well-spent! Who knows, maybe I’ll surprise them and jump in on a game or two. It’s a good ego boost for them-lol!
