No, this post isn’t about Buddy, our Elf, completing my 10 years worth of photo journaling last night, although I wish he did. It is about remembering to capture a picture of your Elf in his or her spot EVERYDAY!
Photo document. Why? Two reasons. 1. Kids LOVE to look at pictures and having it together in one place is really nice especially when they need help getting through his 11 month hiatus at the North Pole.
2. So you can remember unerringly what he has done from year to year. I don’t know about you but I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast let alone what he did last year.
Photo Journaling can be as quick or elaborate as you choose. Creating a photo book on-line, putting pictures in a mini album, full-out scrapbook, or a slide show set to holiday music will be appreciated by your little ones. My preference is an iPad slide show - sweet and simple. The kids have access to it and it takes no time to create. Any way you choose, it’s portable to show off during the holidays with family. For future years, the slide show or album can be left out during holiday parties for others to enjoy!
If you take your pictures at night or unknowingly to your children, then you can surprise them with the photo journal after he returns to the North Pole.
Don’t fret, if you missed a day or two of taking a photo. Try to recreate the past spot when your children are away or just start from today.
Documenting your child’s memories for future reminiscing is a gorgeous gift!
